Join us for season one of The Misadventure Contingency a podcast where we play Super: a TTRPG the first (and only) game we have made so far... Though Super is a setting ambiguous game this season takes place in a post apocalyptic wasteland! Join our survivors as they attempt to make a world worth living in. This is a passion project for Spencer as he Game Masters for his dream cast of players: Malcolm, Kieran, Marty, and Eric with incredible special guests as well
Played by Malcolm: Kahri is a researcher for the scientific development branch of the mythic floating city of eclipse. He travels with his sidekick and best friend Haven (Loadstar) a security expert on his team.
Played by Marty: Just your average everyday 2000s kid who got mistakenly cryogenically frozen with the Future Force. a team of Superheroes dedicated to preventing major historical phenomenon that would be damaging to the world.
Played by Kieran: A widowed parent survivalist who dedicates most of their time to serving the community of Ol' Dry Diggins and raising their daughter Frankie who is almost always up to no good.
Played by Eric: The legacy child of two C-List superheroes that hid in bunkers and established the thriving super society of Thistle. He was sent as an ambassador to local towns to try and expand.
Hey it's me. I'm Spencer, The Founder of Stevenson Games, Creator and Cowriter of Super: a ttrpg and Game Master of The Misadventure Contingency: Ascension. I have been playing Tabletop Roleplaying Games since I was 10 years old and board games since as long as I can remember. I, like many players, started with Dungeons and Dragons and my love grew from there. But it wasn't until my friend Ian showed me G.U.R.P.S. (The Generic Universal Roleplaying System) in high school that I realized the full potential of ttrpgs and game systems in general.
Marty is childhood friends with (and surrogate younger brother of) Spencer and relatively new to tabletop roleplaying games, playing for the first time in a Dungeons and Dragons Western Fantasy game where the players traveled to a new dimension and tried to form a community. In a lot of ways that campaign inspired the themes of The Misadventure Contingency: Ascension. Marty's character was a theater enthusiast called "Duck" who immediately made a deal with an indifferent deity known as The Composer.
Marty was recruited to this project as he is one of my favorite improv comedy partners as well as a roleplaying wildcard that always keeps me on my toes by skirting the line between hero and guy doing whatever comes into his mind first.
